Some Frequently Asked Questions

All our answers, none of the awkward small talk

Your resource for quick answers to some common questions.

General Information

How long do jumping spiders live?

Typically, most species live between 1 to 3 years with good husbandry, though lifespans can vary. Males live an average of 1.5 years and Females live an average
of 2.5 years.

What should I feed my new jumping spider?

Jumping spiders require live prey appropriate to
their size. We generally recommend flightless fruit
flies for very small slings (short for spiderlings) and
pinhead crickets or small mealworms for larger juveniles and adults. See our full Care Guides for detailed feeding charts.

Do you ship spiders?

Yes! We ship nationwide (with some restrictions) using insulated, secure packaging and prioritize safe, quick delivery. We ship Monday through Wednesday to avoid your spood being stranded at a facility over the weekend should any delays occur in transit. We will only ship when temperatures are safe for the animals and offer a Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG) when shipped overnight to a FedEx Hub.

Husbandry & Supplies

How often should I mist the enclosure?

Generally, a light misting 1-2 times per day is sufficient to provide drinking droplets and maintain humidity. Never oversaturate the enclosure, as stagnant water can be dangerous. Proper ventilation is key! Do proper research as different species require different enclosure conditions.

What is a "Clean-Up Crew"?

A Clean-Up Crew (usually isopods and springtails) are tiny invertebrates used in bioactive enclosures. They break down waste, mold, and decaying matter, creating a self-sustaining, healthier habitat.

Can I return an item?

We accept returns on unopened supplies within 30 days. Due to the nature of live animals, all spider and isopod sales are final, but are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee (please see our Terms page for details).
